Bumps in the road

When you first start out in a movement practice, it becomes clear pretty quickly that progress is not as linear as you might like it to be.

In the beginning we hit beginner gains. In a nutshell beginner gains means when you are just starting out you don't know very much. During this phase there is a lot to learn and a lot to gain and you can start to tick things off quite quickly.

Sometimes this period is hindered by niggles and injuries. Maybe you haven't moved your body for a while and you don't have the best understanding of your bodies capacity, pair this with exploring a bunch of new movements and the potential for injury goes up a little too.

As you start to move into more intermediate training you will notice that skill development, strength and mobility gains begin to slow down. This period can feel a bit hard because you're not able to tick off goals as quickly as you once did.

In our podcast this week Rod and I chat about some of the bumps in the road in a movement practice, click the link below to listen.

No matter what stage of your training you are at, if you are struggling through something and need support Rod and I are always here to support you so flick us a message or an email so we can support you and figure out a game plan for you to keep moving forward.
