My elbows were screaming
In January this year I did the raw challenge with TMC. It’s an outdoor run event with lots of obstacles and mud. The day prior I thought it would be a good idea to do a heavy intense bent arm session (haha).
At the end of Raw Challenge my elbows were screaming with pain and I ended up with elbow tendinitis.
I tried dropping back the intensity in my bent arm training but it seemed that no matter how much I backed off, everything I did was still causing lots of pain so I went into rehab mode.
I took complete rest from all my bent arm training
I put more energy into my press and one arm training
I used the Theragun and dug a ball into my arms regularly
I started taking regular saunas at TMC (3 per week)
I took some great anti-inflammatories, good ones prescribed by Estelle from Rational Health
I did a bunch of needling sessions with Alex from The Movement Improvement Clinic
6 months later the pain has fully subsided and I've started rebuilding my strength.
If you’re injured right now (excuse the metaphor) try not to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Having an injury in one part of your body doesn’t mean you have to stop training everything!
Be adaptable like our member Ella Malone who is on the rehab mode membership at TMC hitting a custom program, focusing on strength work while we rehab her wrists to get back into the handstand game.
If you’re struggling with an injury and need some support on your road to recovery, reach out to me, I’d love to help get you on the right track!
Don't forget TMC Members, Saturday 16th June is TMC's 8th Birthday Party! Make sure you have RSVP'd if you are coming! See you tomorrow night!
